2011 NHMEA SCHOLARSHIPS
The New Hampshire Music Educators Association will grant four $300 scholarships to graduating seniors to pursue a major in Music Education. One scholarship will be awarded in each of the four NHMEA districts. Scholarship recipients will be announced in June, and the award will be paid to each recipient upon successful completion of the first semester of studies.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be currently enrolled in a New Hampshire high school. They shall have been accepted to and made a commitment to attend an accredited four-year college in September 2012, in a degree program leading to teacher certification in Music Education.
REQUIRED APPLICATION MATERIALS AND PROCEDURE
- Completed NHMEA Scholarship application form.
- Written statement explaining some personal reasons why you wish to teach music. Musical, work, or teaching-related experience (or other information) that would be helpful to the selection committee may be included. This should not exceed one page.
- Copy of college acceptance letter
- Two letters of recommendation. One will be from a music educator who is a current member of NHMEA, and who has had the applicant in a class or ensemble in the past year. The other will be from an adult who knows the student well, and can comment on his/her personal qualities and potential for success as an educator.
